Backdoor is software for the front desk of a climbing gym. A climber taps an RFID card at the gate. Backdoor checks the pass, the benefit-card provider and the gym’s own rules, opens the gate, and the reception sees the entry in real time. Everything runs on a computer in the gym: no cloud, no subscription and no outage that stops the desk from working.
What it does#
- RFID entry. The card touches the reader, the pass is verified, the benefit is checked and the gate opens before anyone notices.
- Reception panel. One screen in real time: who is inside, who is coming, which passes are active.
- Runs locally. SQLite on the gym’s own computer, RFID readers on the local network and an ESP panel at the gate talking over UART. No telemetry and no single point of failure in the cloud.
- Smart decisions. Pass priorities, protection against double entry and instructor permissions are handled automatically.
The landing page#
The page is a small React + TypeScript app built with Vite and Tailwind CSS, with motion effects and a light/dark theme. It is available in English and Polish: the choice and the theme are remembered, and they are restored before the first paint so the page never flashes.
