# Detta types $2,500 when you say "two thousand five hundred dollars"

Source: [Detta, Fermion Research](https://www.fermionresearch.com/products/detta/)

Say "two thousand five hundred dollars" and Detta types $2,500. Say "tuesday no wednesday" and it types Wednesday. Fermion Research wrote their own speech model for it, which runs on the Mac, and the app cleans up fillers and repeated words before the text goes into whatever app you're using. It's in beta, Apple silicon only, and it wants a Google sign-in even though your voice never leaves the machine.

**TL;DR**

- Maker: Fermion Research; free beta
- Needs Apple silicon Mac, macOS 26.2 or later
- Sign in with Google required
- Size: 709 MB download, ~1.1 GB installed
- Recognition runs on the Mac; text goes into any app
- Phonon-2 model: 164 MB, 5.21% word error (Open ASR Leaderboard), 174x realtime
- Formats numbers, dates, emails, percentages, times, spoken corrections ("tuesday no wednesday" -> Wednesday)
- Gluon: removes fillers, repeats, false starts on device
- Quick Notes: third tap saves note + recording + screenshot, readable by connected AI agents on same Mac
- Files: transcribes WAV, MP3, MP4, MOV with the same model
