Source: stillpane
Yanis (@SahebYanis) uses both Codex and Claude Code and kept missing one Codex feature, Appshots, on the Claude side. Anthropic marked the request “not planned”, so they wrote stillpane. You press both Option keys and the active window goes to your next Claude Code prompt as a screenshot plus its full text in markdown, taken from the page itself rather than from OCR.
Captured text is marked as untrusted, which means a web page can’t pretend to be you and hand Claude instructions.
TL;DR
- Both Option keys: screenshot plus window text as markdown
- Shift plus both Option keys: text only, fewer tokens
- Text from live DOM, not OCR; includes off-screen parts; headings, links, tables kept
- Works with any window: browsers, native apps, Electron (Notion, Slack), error dialogs
- Claude Code plugin attaches capture to next message: CLI, desktop app, IDE extensions
- Captured text marked untrusted, so pages can’t inject instructions
- Files stay on Mac, deleted after 24 hours; no account, no telemetry
- One Swift binary, zero dependencies, Apache-2.0, macOS 14+
- Coming soon: send captures to Claude Code on your server over SSH
