# Awesome Broadcasting: about 150 open source projects for the TV and radio chain

Source: [nebulabroadcast/awesome-broadcasting](https://github.com/nebulabroadcast/awesome-broadcasting)

A list of about 150 open source projects for broadcast work, from codecs and DVB tools through monitoring and subtitling to radio automation and playout servers like CasparCG and Sofie. The EBU mirrors it on ebu.io/opensource. Nobody has updated it since August 2019, and some of the projects have died since then, but most of the names are still the ones you'd want to look up.

**TL;DR**

- Resources: 7 blogs, incl. BBC R&D and Netflix Tech Blog
- Multimedia content processing, longest: 30 entries (FFmpeg, GStreamer, Bento4, OBS Studio, SoX)

- Media Players: 11 entries (VLC, Kodi, Dash.js, GPAC, Mixxx)
